Equipment: Barre


Portable Barre Option: If you are working with portable barres, chairs, or even center floor, find a squat instead of chair. This will allow you to flow through the entire series without needing to pull off the barre.


Coaching & Options:

  • Reverse Lunge / Chair: Set up close to the barre with an overhand grip. Bring feet hip distance and parallel. From standing parallel, step one leg back long, keeping the back heel up. Bend the knees, bringing the front knee over the front ankle and back knee under the back hip. Press through the front heel to bring the back leg forward into chair. In chair, find knees over ankles and shoulders over hips, as if sitting in a chair. For less, leave out the chair and return to standing parallel.

  • Reverse Swivel Lunge: Find a reverse lunge and swivel open toward the back leg, finding a 2nd position plie. Lift the outside heel, returning to lunge facing the barre before closing back to chair. Focus on unloading the outside heel to transition safely between the postures.
